The Village
NCS Performing & Fine Arts Academy's Visual Arts Students
The visual art students of Natomas Charter School have created a tour de force of their own family "traditions" within a forty-two foot canvas mural in the lower gallery of the Benvenuti. The students took inspiration from the work of the late, modern Jewish painter, Marc Chagall to explore their own personal stories in this colorful and whimsical mural. The fantasy, nostalgia, and religion fused together in these works pay homage to the lives of the villagers portrayed in Fiddler on the Roof, which was performed on the Benvenuti stage. The piece is aptly entitled: The Village.
A reception honoring the artists took place on May 1 in the Benvenuti Performing Arts gallery space.
