The Natomas Arts and Education Foundation (NAEF) is a nonprofit organization whose primary focus is to offer dynamic arts programming in the Benvenuti Performing Arts Center that will inspire, challenge and empower students, artists and audiences. NAEF seeks proposals from individual artists and arts organizations who share in the goals and mission of Ben Arts to:
- Enrich our community's appreciation of diversity by inviting multi-cultural performances and ensembles.
- Embrace and challenge the standard repertoire by utilizing new performance techniques, new technologies and non-traditional casting.
- Utilize the arts to nurture a more conscious community by presenting themes that explore and promote insight and understanding of the human condition across all ethnicities and cultures.
- Enhance the learning experiences of student artists at Natomas Charter School and in the Sacramento area through the creation of a series of residencies, workshops and special performances by professionals in the field.
Ben Arts Proposals: Overview
Proposals for programming in the Benvenuti can include but are not limited to theater, music, lectures, dance, film and art instillations. NAEF seeks artists and promoters who are able to partner with us in the production and promotion of an event and who have an interest in collaborating with the professional artists teaching in our Performing and Fine Arts Academy to offer residencies, workshops and performances for our students. Proposals for our professional series will be approved twice a year for the upcoming season.
All proposals will be reviewed by the NAEF Artistic Advisory Board which is made up of professional artists from the community representing a wide range of artistic disciplines. Final programming decisions are made by the NAEF Board. As the schedule permits, NAEF will schedule private rentals of the facility for nonprofits, corporations and individuals who pay full price to rent the Benvenuti for events such as recitals, conferences, receptions and graduations.
The Benvenuti Performing Arts Center features a "full fly" system that allows sets to be moved on and off stage quickly, the 364-seat theatre will produce and host productions with expanded artistic techniques in set design. Other technical features of the theatre include an advanced computer console for lighting and 3D modeling (using a ETC Emphasis 3D server), an integrated analog/digital sound console and digital sound reinforcement, a wireless microphone system, and rigging for motorized, counter-weight and hemp fly systems.
The gallery spaces in The Benvenuti are intended to present a diverse range of artwork by both established and emerging artists. Exhibits and installations rotate approximately every 6-8 weeks, for the purpose of allowing access for as many artists as possible.
All artists approved for the space will be scheduled for a reception that is open to the public.
Proposals for the film can include features or group short films. NAEF seeks artists and arts organizations who are engaged in productions that align with our mission and goals. NAEF further seeks artists and promoters who are able to partner with us in the production and promotion of an event and who have an interest in collaborating with the professional artists teaching in our Performing and Fine Arts Academy to offer residencies, workshops and performances for our students.
A fun, creative location for recitals, conferences, graduations and receptions, The Benvenuti is available for private rental. The Benvenuti Theater seats 364 people while the changing exhibitions in the light filled Main Gallery offer lively environments for receptions.
